FAQ


Do we need to provide the cleaning products?

No. Heart of a Home will bring everything we need. 

What about items we don’t want to be sold?

There will be one or two rooms in the home marked “Off Limits” to the customers. We will store anything you don’t want to sell, any personal papers and photographs in this room. 

Do you assist with the sale of the house or car?

No. Please refer to our “Helpful Links” tab. You will find contact information for everything you might need.

Do you work with appraisers for art and jewelry?

Our “Helpful Links” page will refer you to appraisers. We can also do this on your behalf.

Do you ever turn down jobs?

Yes. If we deem the environment to be unsafe for any reason, for example, Black Mould, we will have to turn it down.

I inherited my great uncle’s house, but I live in Ontario. Do I need to meet you in person for you to take the job?

No. We can meet by phone, Zoom or Face Time. You will need to provide us with a key. 

Does the power and water need to be turned on in the house?

 Yes. We cannot operate without them. 

Do you require Internet?

Yes. If the home does not have internet, there is a $10 per day premium for data usage to accept credit and debit cards during the sale. 

What happens to the items that do not sell?

If you decide not to keep any unsold items, we can assist you in finding a charity that will accept and pick them up. 

How long will you need the house?

For a regular two story house, the entire process including the sale should be seven to fourteen days. If you have a barn, attic or large garage with a lot of additional contents it may take longer. This will be determined upon the initial viewing of the estate. 

How do I get paid?

Once the event is completed, we will provide you with details of the sale and payment by e-transfer or cheque. Any additional costs will be deducted from your payment. There will be nothing out of pocket for you. Allow one week from the end of the sale for payment.
